Looking Forward
The Aldgate mild Summer blended into a spectacular autumn, the cool windless days with very little rain allowed the non native trees to very slowly shed their leaves, casting off only those that did not comply with a suitable autumnal colour palette. Locals termed the season an Indian autumn as the days still windless, grew shorter and chillier, but the leaves hung onto their colour pushing back the winters grey. Winter solstice came and went witout a drop of rain, the driest coldest start to winter in over 60 years. Crystal clear sapphire blue skies played occasional host to puffy clouds that evaporated almost as soon as they formed, seemingly embarrassed to be there. A gentle rain finally fell today, heralding the start of the winter rains at last. Time for us to start preparing for warmer thoughts and summer in the northern hemisphere.
Only ten days to go now! and so the countdown begins, then we are on our way to circumnavigate the globe. Our journey begins on the 5th of July, when first by plane we fly across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, visiting the islands of Oahu and Maui. The big event that was the genesis of this trip happens on Maui, Tuesday the 18th of July 2017, the marriage of our son Troy to Heather Pushman. This we know will be a wonderful event in an amazing setting on the beach in Lahaina, Maui. We then complete the trans pacific crossing by flying on to San Diego to visit with Amanda’s brother and his family for a week. Once again on the move we cross North America diagonally, flying from San Diego to Philadelphia again to be reunited with the now married Troy and Heather and their five children. After a three week stay enjoying further wedding celebrations for extended family and friends and slipping in a few days in New York we cross the Atlantic Ocean to London. Our destination Wimbledon a week staying just off the common in an old mansion now a hotel, catching up with the Wombles, and all things Wimbledon including a tour of the tennis arena. This visit will see me revisiting the most memorable part of my childhood and sharing the surrounds with Amanda after a 34 year absence. We then hop across the North Sea to Amsterdam and a few days sightseeing before boarding the River Duchess for a bucket list adventure, a leisurely two week cruise to Budapest along the Rhine river. That over we explore Budapest for a few days before boarding a flight to Helsinki and on to Singapore. A few days exploring more of Singapore brings us back to Adelaide via Melbourne to complete our circumnavigation around the world in 90 days.
Hope you enjoy following us as we reunite with family and friends, discover new places and rediscover old stomping grounds.
